Day 6: Our season starts

All the critical prep is done and we're ready to go. Also, marinas are expensive.

Woken up by the sound of a strange knocking. This type of sound is often cat-related but both moggies were in view and quiet. Got up and tracked it down to the mousetrap compartment. Lo and behold, I got the bugger. It was swiftly transferred to the jetty and was last seen swimming towards somebody else's boat. Result!

After checking out with the marina office, the dink can be stowed. This is a lot simpler than on Red. It hoists up on the targa bar, engine and all. We have a cover that protects the PVC from UV.

Plan is to move to Paradise Point to meet up with our buddy, Sea Change, a couple of miles south of Hope Harbour. This is a sheltered anchorage close to some shops and an enclosed swimming beach. 15 minutes after we left and the starboard engine shut down. Bugger. Had a look and it seems to be air in the fuel line. I tried to bleed it out but no cigar. We still did the hop on one engine - two engines, ain't they great? - and I'll see about fixing it while we're here.

First time using this anchoring kit. Also, there is a bridle to attach, which is all new to me. Made a meal of the process but I know my way around the system now.

Couple of jobs this afternoon. Firstly, it occurred to me that, had the port engine also failed, we would have had no means of propulsion. First job was to rig the jib - it can be deployed now.

Second, all the fenders are still out. I need to bring them in and stow them which meant a bit of buggering around with lines and such.

Great evening with Caroline and Walt coming over for dinner. The barbie works just fine.
