There is a hole in the panel where the TV sits that used to house the old GPS. Blocking it wasn't a priority until Pearl started taking an interest. There is a slim chance that she could crawl in and that would not go well for cat nor boat.
It's worth saying that the TV works fantastically since we had a killer aerial fitted by a rigger. Eye-wateringly expensive but it did the trick.

I also wired in the new house battery. This takes our overall capacity to a touch over 300AH. The reasoning here is that this is what we had on Red and it worked. We have also been experiencing power drop-offs while operating the microwave. I think it's drawing so much current that the voltage falls and the inverter trips. Adding another 100AH should give the bank a sporting chance.

We were right. The inverter stayed with us while using the microwave. The bank probably needs to be fully charged to stop the inverter from complaining but at least we can heat food.

I also fitted a couple of harness attachment points in the cockpit. These make us more secure, especially on night watch.

Lastly, I installed a couple of hour meters for the engines. There is no facility to keep track of engine usage - other than a notebook. These meters will help to keep usage fairly even over each engine, and will also tell when to do a service. I preset them to around the hours the dealer told us the engines had when we bought Cat Play. Not sure I believe it but it does give us an initial point.
Hour meters rolled forward to the estimated actual hours from new. |
