Day 66: Macona Inlet

We wanted to spend some time at Whitehaven Beach - just round the corner from Tongue Bay - but it was still too rocky for any of that. The beach is rolly at the best of times but it would probably take a couple of days for this swell to die down. Instead, we went north to Macona Inlet. This is very sheltered and on the way to Airlie, which will be our next stop.

Dusty, feeling lazy.

Rocky run up the eastern side of Whitsunday Island, though not nearly as bad as yesterday. We had some scary-looking rollers in the gap at the southern end of Hook, but it all calmed down after that.

Dusty says hi.

After lunch I made my first soft shackle. Not perfect but it will do as part of the foresail furling line setup. The next two will be used on the spinnaker, so they'll have to be better.

First stab at a soft shackle. That loop is a tad too big.

Soft shackle used anyway - not a high-force part of the rigging.
