Day 33: Pancake Creek

Walk today. Met up with Carolyn and Walt from Sea Change, and Sheryl and Tim from Lazy Bones to walk up to the lighthouse. Weather perfect.

Started on the beach in Pancake Creek, and walked through the swamp to the electric cable line (this is a single wire that takes power to the lighthouse). On the way up, we stopped off to have a look at the newly revamped historic cemetery. The plan was to turn around at the lighthouse and check out Aircraft Beach but a sign indicating a lookout 600m past the lighthouse got our attention. This took us down to the next creek which was just beautiful. Happened upon the current lighthouse caretakers fishing on the beach so we stopped for a chat.

Swamp behind the beach.

Path along the electric cable.

Historic graveyard. Alfred didn't get insulators on his fence because of his name. He was a lineman. Three people died on the same day - looks like a boating accident.

Roos helping out with the grass at the lighthouse.

Bustard Head lighthouse.

Next estuary looking back on Pancake Creek. Cat Play is one of those boats in the distance.

Walking party. Walt, Carolyn, Sheryl and Tim.

Entrance to the next creek. People have been known to bring their boats in here.

Me. Working up a sweat.

Back on the boat and Kim had cooked up the rest of the fish for an excellent lunch.

Kim made a damper for dinner but the barbie over cooked it. Still grappling with this thing.
