Day 28: Bundaberg

Motored down to the fuel dock at Bundaberg Port Marina - at Burnett Heads - to top up the fuel. A totally uneventful docking. Docking is not our strong point and, this being a new boat to us, there is a lot to learn. The fuel dock is on the end of a finger, which greatly simplifies the task, and there is a whole river to bail to if things go south. I used the opportunity to practice controlling her at low speed, i.e. using only the two engines to steer. Got her steady and slowly brought her in. Everything went exactly to plan. Now I just have to do the same thing dozens more times.

Refueling at the fuel dock.

After fueling, we went back to the mooring area and I spent some time rigging the main. The finishing touch was to replace the too-short reefing line. The main is now good to go for this trip.

Mainsail with one reef in.

Once the tide turned, we motored up river to Bundaberg. Most important task of the day was curry at Spicy Tonight.

Small visitor that needs to be gone when the cats come out.

Run distillery from the river. This place does tours.

Dinghy dock in the town center. Locals tell us to make sure everything is locked up.

Sculpture along the river.
